Senator Chuck Hagel got grilled in his Senate confirmation hearing by Senators John McCain (for whom he was a campaign co-chair) and Lindsey Graham. Hagel opposed the surge in Iraq and John McCain tried his best to force Chuck Hagel into a simplified his answer on the subect.
