WWRL Hosts Blog

On the Radio Like Donna Summer!

Tonight marks the second airing of Clay Cane Live on WWRL 1600AM via Equality Pride Radio.  Last week, my co-host, J'Nara Corbin, and I, jumped in -- headphones first!  Even through tech difficulties -- the bobby-pins in J'Nara's phony pony upsetting the airwaves -- we rode it out and hopefully delivered some thoughtful and funny commentary.  As I said last Thursday, "We are on the radio like Donna Summer!"

On tonight's show, we'll be live on the air from New York City.  Our celebrity guest will be Broadway icon and original Dreamgirl, Jennifer Holliday on her phenomenal career and connection to the LGBT community.  The Tony winner once said, "If it were not for the gay and lesbian community, I would really not have half the career I've had. Throughout the lows in my career, this community remained loyal, remained faithful, didn't care whether I had a hit record or not. This community supported me; this community fed me and paid my mortgage by letting me sing in the clubs at three, four o' clock in the morning."  Ms. Holliday will be taking questions from callers.

We will also talk with theGrio contributor, Edward Wyckoff Williams, who wrote an article on me and Equality Pride Radio for the NBC-owned web site.

Plus, a plethora of topics from a film review of Adam Sandler's Jack and Jill to a man who claimed he “turned gay” after a stroke and the gag list -- our top five "gaggers" of the week.  Be sure to call in with your own gaggers at 212.868.0975!

Also, we'll have a giveaway for the off-Broadway play Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays, which includes Mark Consuelos.

Please join in on the fun tonight at 11pm EST on the radio dial at WWRL 1600 AM and streaming online at WWRL1600.com.
