Well, John Boehner is Speaker of the House again. I guess John Boehner is the best thing the Republicans have got. Hey, wasn’t that the same reason they nominated Mitt Romney?
There was a
mini-coup against Boehner in the voting to be speaker. But the coup was poorly thought out and totally ineffective. You would think that the people attempting the coup should realize from that that John Boehner is their natural leader. Allen West, who lost his reelection bid to the House,
got two votes to be Speaker of the House! Casting a vote for Allen West isn’t a statement—it’s a threat. Casting a vote for Allen West to be Speaker of the House on the floor of the House should be considered like shouting “Fire!” in a crowded theater. It has nothing to do with free speech—you’re just trying to scare people.

Dr. Keith Ablow might run for the Senate seat that John Kerry would vacate if he becomes Secretary of State. If Scott Brown doesn’t run, then Ablow says “I will take those who have asked me to run much more seriously.” Who is asking Dr. Keith Ablow to run for Senate? Well, he is a psychiatrist... who works for Fox News—he must talk to a lot of crazy people. Dr. Ablow, when people say you have no business being a doctor, they don’t say it because they think you really should be a United States Senator!
More guns mean more mass shootings.
The statistics prove it. And if that’s not enough for you, the NRA denies it—that should prove it beyond any doubt. In the US, the increase in the number of firearms has wildly outpaced population growth. Of course, part of that may be due to the fact that having so many guns causes enough shooting deaths to dampen population growth. Although there are so many more guns, they are owned by fewer households—in the 80’s 50 percent of households owned guns, but today only 40 percent of household own guns. America’s guns are being concentrated more and more into the hands of fewer and fewer people... kind of like America’s wealth. When people hoard wealth, it could lead to economic disaster. When people hoard weapons, the potential for disaster is thousands of times worse.
