Last night President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton appeared in a joint interview. It was almost overkill—like one of those comic book specials where Superman and Batman team up. You don’t expect that to happen in real life. At several points Barack and Hillary almost looked like they were in love. And you know who has to be going crazy with jealousy—Joe Biden! Poor Joe Biden—he’s the one who gets left out in this little love triangle. He’s like Eponine in Les Miserables. Just don’t sing, Joe.

George Will says that women should not be allowed in combat because of “certain anatomical facts.” Yes George, that would make total sense… if soldiers fought with their penises. Will said that women don’t have the upper body strength to engage in combat. Somebody tell George that we’re not fighting with swords and axes anymore—I can see why the Vikings didn’t allow their women in combat. Then Fox News contributor Lt. General Jerry Boykin says that women shouldn’t be in combat because it’s embarrassing for male soldiers to have to poop or pee in front of them. According to General Boykin, our male soldiers fear nothing... except giggling women.

The Wall Street Journal published an opinion piece titled “The Reality that Awaits Women in Combat.” A former Marine described the rigors of going without basic hygiene for weeks on end. These guys evidently think that a woman can’t go 72 hours without exfoliating. Let me assure this Marine that, for the sake of her country, a woman is more than willing to forego a pedicure until final victory is achieved. The Marine wrote that it is “potentially traumatizing to be forced to be naked in front of the opposite sex.” Hey, if people of both genders were unable to overcome that potential trauma, we could never reproduce. Men seem able to conquer their fear of being naked in front of a woman when there’s sex involved. I think they’ll be able to do it when their survival is at stake.

A New Mexico lawmaker has proposed a law that says a woman who gets an abortion after being raped is guilty of “tampering with the evidence.” According to the logic of this law, a person who gets shot and survives cannot have the bullet removed from their body without tampering with the evidence.

Listen to The Randi Rhodes Show Monday through Friday 6 PM to 8 PM on WWRL AM 1600.
