#RandiRhodes @RandiRadio blog: Attack of the Drones

Attorney General Eric Holder has refused to rule out a drone strike in the United States in “an extraordinary circumstance.” I can’t imagine any circumstance that would justify... saying that. Look, if things really hit the fan, there’s no telling what might be necessary. Until then, be like a Republican—just lie. You know that Dick Cheney would never say he would use a drone in the United States ever, under any circumstance. And you also know that he would do exactly that at the drop of a hat. If Dick Cheney had access to the drone technology the Obama administration has today, he would have launched drones on Election Night in 2008.

Eric Holder’s candor was either not enough or too much for Rand Paul, who has launched a talking filibuster against CIA Director nominee John Brennan. Unfortunately for Sen. Paul, John Brennan’s confirmation is as certain as Rand Paul is a little strange... maybe it’s the hair.

Police in California are investigating the death of the retirement community resident who a nurse allowed to die rather than perform CPR against company policy. They’re looking to see if any laws were broken. If there weren’t, there should have been. The woman was pronounced dead later at a hospital. But the nurse who refused to help her might as well have pronounced her dead right then and there. Sometimes performing CPR on an elderly person causes things like broken ribs. That can degrade the quality of life, but not quite as much as having no life degrades the quality of life.

Several Republican Senators are refusing to say if they think the Voting Rights Act is constitutional. Some of them voted for it in the past. Gee, I guess under certain circumstances Republicans consider the Constitution to be an evolving document... or in this case, a devolving document.

A report from the Southern Poverty Law Center shows that the number of hate groups is at near record levels. And that’s just the nutcases who are in groups. It doesn’t even count the really scary ones who won’t join groups. They even hate other people who hate.

Listen to The Randi Rhodes Show Monday through Friday 6 PM 8 PM on WWRL AM 1600.
